A Livingston County woman accused of stealing money from an elderly couple is facing felony charges.
Amanda L. Hunter, 25, of Dansville was charged with third-degree grand larceny and 10 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
Hunter is accused of stealing about $9,000 from an elderly couple whom she was working for as a home health aide, said Investigator Matt Burgess of the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
Hunter, who has worked for the Dansville couple since April, took personal checks from her employers and "swindled them out of thousands of dollars," he said. The thefts took place between October and earlier this month, Burgess said, adding that the stolen funds have not been recovered.
Hunter was apprehended Monday, deputies said.
She was arraigned in Dansville Village Court and was remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Additional charges may be pending from the Livingston County District Attorney's Office.
PS. Once made my living as a Home Health Aide. This is very troubling to me. Comments welcome.
Thanks to Marta for her watchdog eye. We need more Marta's.
