During our 30 day low-cash diet we should:
MAKE A LIST
Make a list of every bill you have to pay, like rent and utility bills, and everything you have to buy like gas for the car.
Every necessity goes on this list, from bus fare for the kids to kitty litter for the cat. Look at this list again when your four weeks are up. You've created a budget! You can never again say "I don't know where my money goes."
Next, stock up on your groceries so you won't have to go shopping every week and be tempted by impulse items. Especially stock up on rice, beans, spaghetti, dried milk and bread-that way you will have enough staples to get through the month, picking up perishable things such as vegetables, meat, eggs and fruit as you need them.
Now, pay as many "must pay" bills as possible on the first day of your spending "vacation". These would be rent, utilities, telephone, car payments, and other regular bills.
Put any other expenses, such as clothes, movies, restaurants, and so forth on the back burner. If it's not a necessity. DON'T BUY IT." from the book (How to get out of debt fast).
ps. For the ones of us who will be going on this low-cash diet, do you think we should support each other with a workout partner or something? I'm open for ideas?
